Thrilled to say that Tony and I won the award for ‘Best Director’ at the Malta Short Film Festival for ‘Match’. This little short has been going since 2019 and we are over the moon with the life it’s had - and continues to have! Thank you to our amazing producers Rob Earley & Mark Griffin at Take Ten Productions and to the wonderful folk at Network Ireland Television for seeing potential in our film and getting eyes on it across the world! Thanks so much to the festival for screening our film and congrats to all the winners! Delighted to be returning to Boyne Valley International film festival this year to share my two cents on short filmmaking. Come hang! August 10th @ 2pm.
Jump Cuts Youth Film Festival30/4/2024 I had the privilege of being a judge on the panel for this Short Film Festival aimed at secondary school students. Thank you so much to Frank & Collette at the Droichead Arts centre for having us on board and to Sineád Brassil for the gorgeous panel talk that evening too. Congrats to all the winners.
The level of talent was so high - the future of Irish Filmmaking is in safe hands! Catalyst Student Day 202430/4/2024 I had a wonderful time at Catalyst International Film Festival last week leading some interactive filmmaking workshops for Secondary School Students with my pal Phil Shanahan. It was great to see their work on screen after and present their award. Massive thank you to Johanna Thea also for joining us for the workshop and lending us her awesome acting chops for the morning. Catalyst is always a festival fave, thanks for having us!
Multicamera Training with NTA30/4/2024 Still reeling from a gorgeous week spent in Spiddal doing the NTA's Multicam Training Course for Directors. What a gorgeous group of people to train with and crew to learn from at the Ros na Rún studios. Thanks so much to the National Talent Academies for being the best and for the continued support - you guys are awesome!
We are running our very popular 'How to Make a Short Film' workshop again in Bow Street Academy on April 11th & 12th - If you've missed it before, now's your chance!
"Covering all the basics from Pre-Production through to the shoot and Post Production through to promoting your film, this is a great opportunity to learn simple and effective tools for bringing your idea to life." Also, if you’re an actor it helps so much because I now understand what it’s like from the Director/DOP’s point of view.” Ruth “Brilliant course! So much insight on the process and lots of fun with Laura and Shimmy. Can only recommend this!” Noah “What a brilliant couple of days. Loved this Short Film course, learned loads. Looking forward to putting it to use and future collabs with a great group too.” Carroll “Two days learning from the very best, can’t recommend enough! 5 Stars.” Jason Check out the other wonderful courses added to their Spring slate! X-Pollinator 20246/2/2024 I am so thrilled to be one of 140 selected for the next instalment of X-Pollinator alongside such awesome creatives. Really can’t wait to meet everyone later this month. I had the most wonderful time as Shadow Director on this season - I even got to cut my teeth on some 2nd Unit Directing.
I can’t thank Thaddeus O’ Sullivan and Kadir Ferrati Balci enough for being so generous with their time and wisdom and to Siobhán, Kate, Catherine & Orlaith for giving me the wonderful opportunity to spend weeks on the show, both in my hometown of Limerick and in beautiful Antwerp. Here’s to S2 and all the hard work of an amazing cast and crew! Back by popular demand! We had such a great time doing this workshop in April and I can't wait to do it again this Nov 1st & 2nd.
